November 13, 2025LARRYBASH PETTY TRADERS SUPPORT SCHEME (LAPTRASS)
LAPTRASS is an organic economic initiative of Seriki Lanre Bashorun LARRYBASH, aimed at providing assistance to petty traders in the Ado-Odo/Ota federal constituency.
The initiative stems from an empirical study of challenges facing petty trading, such as limited access to finance, vulnerability to economic shocks, cultural entanglements, and folding down often resulting from harsh rules from both local authorities and non-state actors.
The major objective of LAPTRASS is to intentionally grow and expand the business of petty traders, contribute to the local economy, and improve the livelihood and resilience of vulnerable populations.
These goals will be achievable through
- Access to finance and credit facilities
- Business mentorship and development
- Advocacy and policy support
- Continued monitoring
LAPTRASS TARGET
- Street vendors
- Hawkers
- Roadside and motorpark booth
- Disadvantaged groups (potential starter)
LAPTRASS stands out for its commitment to an apolitical selection process (need assessment), inclusive framework (across all 16 wards), sustained monitoring (regular tracking of progress), and rigorous implementation assessment (evaluating effectiveness), complementing its empirical and holistic approach.
The LAPTRASS office is at the LARRYBASH secretariat, Okede, Ota, Ogun State, and is headed by an executive secretary.
LAPTRASS…
Empowering traders, enriching the communities..
